Cool Schools, Hot Training: Summer Fire Training Schools draw over 3,000 students
  The annual July Fire Training Schools concluded on July 25 with the 85th Annual Municipal Fire Training School. The three schools drew more than 3,000 firefighters from Texas and around the world to Brayton Fire Training Field for a challenging week of training.

State Legislators and staff visit Municipal Fire School during SFFMA Legislative Day
  Several Texas Legislators and more than 30 Legislative staff members participated in the Annual Legislative Day at the Municipal Fire School on July 23. The event was sponsored by the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association (SFFMA), TEEX and the Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS).

Lawson tapped to lead National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center
  Hank Lawson has been named Director of TEEX’s National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (NERRTC), which is a founding member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium and has enhanced the nation’s preparedness by training more than 450,000 responders in over 10,000 jurisdictions.

Cybersecurity Summer Camp exposes teens to STEM careers
  Local high school students from across the Brazos Valley attended the inaugural Cyber Centurion Summer Camp offered by TEEX on June 23-27, and designed to introduce the teens to the computing and cybersecurity industry. Another camp will be offered on July 28-Aug. 1, 2014.

TEEX delivering grant-funded Death Investigation Training, Workshops in South Texas
  Four, tuition-free, Crime Scene Investigation classes will be offered over the next four months in South Texas. The training is being funded by the Governor’s Office, Texas Criminal Justice Division, to provide South Texas law enforcement officers and judicial representatives specialized training through the Texas Forensic Science Academy and Texas Justice Court Training Center located at Texas State University.

Public invited to firefighting demonstration on July 23 at Brayton Fire Field
  The public is invited to a firefighting demonstration on Wednesday, July 23, sponsored by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) in conjunction with its Municipal Fire Training School at the Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station. There is no admission charge.

17 complete Helicopter Rescue Swimmer class sponsored by TX-TF1
  Seventeen rescue swimmers with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) have successfully completed the Helicopter Rescue Swimmer – Basic Level 1 course sponsored by Texas Task Force 1.

New training in industrial emergencies supports municipal firefighter safety
  TEEX wants to help ensure firefighters in all departments in the State of Texas have training in effective and appropriate responses to industrial emergencies – training that could save their lives. A new course, “Industrial Emergencies for Municipal-Based Responders," has been developed to train firefighters to handle industrial and other non-traditional emergencies.

TEEX launches Learning Management System for online therapeutics manufacturing courses
  The National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM) at Texas A&M University has launched its first online biopharmaceutical course on a Learning Management System developed by the TEEX Knowledge Engineering Center. The latest release of the easy-to-use FreedomLearn™ Essentials – Learning Management System (LMS)was implemented to match the current style and design of NCTM’s website to provide a seamless experience.
