Since 1986, the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) has been a recognized leader in Environmental Training and Compliance. TEEX delivers tailored courses on current policy, standards, technology, and regulations for environmental health and safety professionals.  We provide opportunities for continued education in a wide variety of topics. Our courses have trained thousands of people in dozens of disciplines, and we continually update our offerings with new and relevant material. Custom on-site training is offered by request both regionally and nationally.

TEEX Environmental Focus

Hazardous Waste Management
The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) required the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop a comprehensive program to manage hazardous wastes from cradle to grave in an effort ensure that hazardous waste is handled in a manner that protects human health and the environment. These courses are intended to provide training required by the EPA for those employees whose duties involve the handling, storage, transport, management or disposal of hazardous waste generated by their employer.

Stormwater Management
The Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) stormwater permits, one component of the TPDES program, regulate stormwater discharges from industrial activities, construction activities, and municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s) to Texas waters.

HAZWOPER & Spill Response
These courses consist of both lecture and hands-on training exercises.  A wide array of personal protective equipment, monitoring equipment and other emergency response equipment is available for student use.

CHMM & REM Certification
Many Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and Registered Environmental Manager (REM) candidates find it beneficial to take the TEEX four-day Hazardous Materials Management Survey (HMMS) course (ENV209) prior to taking the exam. As a Kryterion testing center, upon successful conclusion of the class, participants have the opportunity to take the REM test the same week.

Environmental Compliance & Assessment
These courses enable individuals and organizations to conduct or review environmental site investigations, take valid environmental samples and understand environmental remediation projects.

The Texas Board of Professional Engineers' Continuing Education Program (CEP) requires 15 professional development hours per year. Find out more here.
 
Registered corrective action specialists and project managers (RCAS/CAPMs) are still required for work on LPST sites. Geoscientist requirements are separate from (and in the case of LPST sites, in addition to) RCAS/CAPM requirements.

Asbestos & Lead
These courses are designed to meet the accreditation requirements (for both licensure and annual renewal of licenses) of the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) TP00058 Asbestos [00-0001] and Lead 20404. Information about TDSHS Asbestos Preparatory Work and Licensing.

Hands-on exercises and demonstrations are the highlight of these training courses. Additional courses in Indoor Air Quality, Air Monitoring Technology, and Airborne Asbestos Sampling and Laboratory Analysis (NIOSH 582) are offered.
