Description

This course is designed to provide knowledge and skills to allow you to meet the Job Performance Requirements (JPR) as defined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1061, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Public Safety Telecommunicator (2007 ed.), Chapter 4, “Public Safety Telecommunicator I.”

The course will focus on obtaining adequate and accurate information for the appropriate dispatch of resources.

Participants who successfully complete the course and pass the required written and skills tests will receive a National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board) certification.

Annual Fire Training School

If you are attending this course as part of TEEX's Annual Fire Training School taught each July, you need to be aware of the following additional information:

Annual Fire Training School registration late fee

A $50.00 late fee will be assessed to payments made after the registration deadline.

Please be aware this class begins Sunday at 2 p.m.

  • Sunday: 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Monday - Thursday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 a.m. – noon

Course size limit

  • 30 students

  • Regular work attire for training activities and classroom sessions.

Policies

Pro Board Testing Accommodation Information

Accomodations are provided for those candidates who qualify under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as disabled.

Candidates seeking special accomodation requests should:

  • Submit formal documentation (such as a letter from the doctor or a letter from his/her company's Human Resources Department) to the Certification Office.
  • Provide documentation that is dated within the last 5 years.
  • Provide documentation to the certification office on or before the first day of class for approval.

If the request is approved, candidates will receive one of the following allowable accomodations:

  • A testing room to oneself so the candidate can read the questions out loud to him or herself.
  • The test questions may be printed in a larger font (up to 7% larger).
  • The test may be copied on off-white paper (i.e., cream colored).
  • The candidate may use highlighters or a highlighter sheet.

Any requests for accomodations not listed above must be submitted to the Certification Office 2 weeks prior to the class start date. The request will be reviewed by the certification committee and the candidate will be notified of the decision of the committee.
