This course provides the county corrections officer with a basic understanding of the statutory authority for use of force, use of force models, and use of force options. It is designed to increase the corrections officer's knowledge of the causes of disruptive behavior and disturbances. Jail administrators and officers will learn the appropriate preventative or remedial action to protect against potential civil liability. This course is one of the intermedate core courses required by TCLEOSE rules to receive intermediate certification as a county corrections officer. Successful completion of this course will provide the participant with 16 hours of TCLEOSE credit.
The mandatory completion/duration period for this eCourse is six (6) months from the registration date.

This course meets the requirements for Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) Intermediate Core Course #3504.
