School districts can increase the effectiveness of their school bus drivers by having a qualified behind-the-wheel trainer on staff. The primary objective is to teach trainers on how to prepare drivers to properly maneuver a school bus.

The course presents a standardized methodology for mirror usage, backing, turning, parking and emergency maneuvers. The course also focuses on terminology that should be used between trainers and drivers while conducting behind the wheel training.

In addition, the course will present and practice recommended teaching techniques, documentation and final implementation tips trainers can use when they return to their district. TEEX recently finished updating the School Bus Driver Instructor School to meet school district trainer needs. We recently incorporated a new manual system that will help standardize the training across the state.

The participant will receive a trainer's manual and follow-along driver manual. We also added a full set of instructional media and driver evaluations that are available for trainers to purchase when they finish the school.
