Annual School 36-hour Crude by Rail Emergency Response is designed to provide emergency responders with the skills and knowledge required to mitigate a flammable liquid fire involving railcars. This hands-on course covers the increase of nationwide crude oil & flammable liquid production, including industry regulations concerning crude oil transportation especially by rail with an emphasis on burning crude oil tank cars involved in a train derailment.
The course also covers the characteristics of flammable liquids including crude oil and examines the various types of firefighting equipment used in response to a train derailment with ensuing fire. Participants will learn how to monitor the environment, recognize hazards and consider tactical responses on full-scale props where they will apply their skills and knowledge in a controlled but realistic crude oil fire involving railcars.
There are no prerequisites for this course.
