Advanced Bulk Storage Response (non-Pro Board) is a hands-on course designed to provide emergency responders with the skills and knowledge to mitigate a flammable liquid fire involving bulk storage. This course will discuss the various types of bulk storage tanks, including design and construction characteristics and ancillary equipment integrated into some types of storage tanks. This course also covers the fire and safety components of bulk storage facilities, as well as fire and spill behaviors. Crude oil characteristics will be discussed in relation to bulk storage tanks and large-volume delivery devices for both water and foam. Participants in this course will have multiple opportunities over three days to practice their knowledge and skills for combating fires in bulk storage fire scenarios using scale props in a realistic but controlled setting.
