Incident Safety Officer (NFPA 1521) Training

Description

The NFPA 1521 Incident Safety Officer non-certification course provides students with a solid foundation and knowledge to identify and analyze safety concerns and to communicate recommended solutions to the command authority. The class focuses on industrial emergency scene operations using the Incident Command System (ICS). You will gain confidence in your ability to handle a variety of emergency situations through classroom exercises, including building an incident safety plan.

Description

The NFPA 1521 Incident Safety Officer non-certification course provides students with a solid foundation and knowledge to identify and analyze safety concerns and to communicate recommended solutions to the command authority. There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

Course Attire

For classroom activities, students must wear full length pants, closed-toe shoes, and short sleeve/ long sleeve shirts (no sleeveless shirts).

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.

If you are attending this course as part of TEEX's Texas Annual Fire Training School taught each March and July, you need to be aware of the following additional information.

Annual Fire Training School Registration Requirements

Annual Schools require that you use the online registration system. If you are using a Purchase Order please place the number in the PO field for payment. Please know we must have a copy of the PO or voucher within 48 hours of your registration or you will be canceled out of the class.

Annual Fire Training School Late Registration

The full rate will be applied after the early-bird registration deadline.

Class Hours:

Session I

  • Monday - Tuesday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Session II

  • Wednesday-Thursday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Attire

  • This course requires PPE Level 1 as described in the TEEX Student Safety Manual. All students are required to follow this manual at all times.
  • You must wear regular work attire for training activities and classroom sessions.
  • You may not wear shorts, sleeveless shirts, or open-toed shoes to any class or field activity.
