Many fights end up on the ground whether the combatants want to be there or not. Many people trained in mixed martial arts (MMA) programs train specifically to take the fight to the ground. Fighting on the ground poses unique and dangerous challenges to police and corrections officers. This course is designed to teach students how to avoid being taken to the ground and how to effectively escape if they do find themselves in these circumstances. It reviews tactics for both open and narrow environments, reviews the four most common ground positions and escapes, refines the student's physical technique, and presents instructional methods for teaching survival skills.
