Helicopter Landing Officer

Description

The Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) course emphasizes hands-on training to provide you with the skills necessary to ensure safe conditions and performance of all helideck personnel as they carry out their assigned duties and responsibilities during helicopter operations. Supplementing the hands-on training are classroom sessions utilizing discussion, demonstrations, case histories, and visual presentations.

You will be assigned to various positions outlining the responsibilities and tasks of the HLO and his/her crew prior to helicopter arrival, after landing, during refueling and loading, and during departure. You will also discuss the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and outline the operating and loading capacities of common helicopters engaged in offshore transportation.

You will be provided with the knowledge and skills required to plan for potential emergency situations, as well as emergency response procedures for various types of helicopter/helideck emergencies.
