Public Health

The safety and security of the nation's critical infrastructure, including healthcare systems and water utilities, depends on key knowledge and skills in the event of a natural disaster or act of terrorism. Public health courses cover all aspects training for both individuals and jurisdictions through classroom training, field exercises, multimedia scenarios and computer-aided simulations. Disaster management preparedness encompasses mass prevention training for public health emergencies and evacuation and emergency planning. Highly specialized programs such as pediatric disaster response ensure all aspects of community and healthcare systems are prepared if the worst should happen. OSHA-authorized courses include industrial hygiene, blood-borne pathogen and accident incident investigation. Water and wastewater courses cover safe practices as well as disaster management overviews. Homeland Security courses are funded by the National Homeland Security Training Program as part of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium.
