The Master Defensive Tactics Instructor Certificate is designed to give graduates a recognized credential that can translate into greater recognition within their respective field. After completing four required courses, graduates will have an understanding of basic defensive tactics and how to use those basic techniques against an edged weapon, on the ground, or on the move dynamically.

Once all five courses have been completed, applicants should confirm they meet all certificate requirements using the Master Defensive Tactics Instructor Application and return to the TEEX Law Enforcement & Security Training division. Eligibility of each candidate will be reviewed and email notification of decision will be sent within two business days.

This course is designed to help officers stay up to date with liability issues that relate to incidents of use of force. Participants learn about the rights and duties of a peace officer during use of force and deadly encounters, potential liabilities, department accountability, and the importance of training protocols to ensure the protection of constitutional rights.

Participants will learn basic self defense tactics for all levels of resistance that can be used if attacked in the line of duty. Officers will be able to return to their agency and train personnel in these defensive tactics.

Effective scenario training enables participants to gain valuable hands-on experience and improve their skills for public safety and security. Safety and realism are the two most important elements in reality-based training. This course is designed to teach students how to safely design and implement scenario based training within their agency. Students will learn how to effectively develop and evaluate a scenario training plan that is safe and effective. Upon completing this course, participants obtain several training scenarios that they will be able to take back to their agencies to immediately utilize.
