The Corrections Response Team Instructor Certificate is designed to give graduates a recognized credential that can translate into greater recognition within their respective field. After completing four required courses, graduates will have an understanding of basic defensive tactics, forced cell movement, riot control in a correctional setting, and be able to create safe scenarios to train their officers.

Once all four courses have been completed, applicants should confirm they meet all certificate requirements using the
Corrections Response Team Instructor Application and return to the TEEX Law Enforcement & Security Training division. Eligibility of each candidate will be reviewed and email notification of decision will be sent within two business days.

This hands-on, professional development experience for new instructors will improve skills for effective instruction and enhance presentation techniques. Participants will learn modern methods for effectively training adults and techniques for creating a productive and thriving learning environment.

Participants will learn basic self defense tactics for all levels of resistance that can be used if attacked in the line of duty. Officers will be able to return to their agency and train personnel in these defensive tactics.

Learn the individual responsibilities of each member within a Forced Cell Movement Team and how to successfully train your cadre in these techniques. Team techniques will be taught to safely extract noncompliant inmates from a cell while using the minimum amount of force necessary.

Participants will learn how to successfully train cadre to handle disturbances in a jail. This course will provide an overview of less-lethal systems and students will perform baton and shield techniques, while participating as a member of a riot control team in a corrections facility.

Effective scenario training enables participants to gain valuable hands-on experience and improve their skills for public safety and security. Safety and realism are the two most important elements in reality-based training. This course is designed to teach students how to safely design and implement scenario based training within their agency. Students will learn how to effectively develop and evaluate a scenario training plan that is safe and effective. Upon completing this course, participants obtain several training scenarios that they will be able to take back to their agencies to immediately utilize.
