”TEEXCOLLEGE STATION - The Texas Engineering Extension Service will officially change its name to the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, effective Sept. 1, while retaining the acronym, TEEX. The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents voted to add “A&M” to the names of all seven state agencies within the A&M System during its August meeting in College Station.

The resolution adopted by the Board of Regents states, “Lack of identification with the A&M System has the potential to cause confusion and to hinder ... efforts to effectively communicate to constituents and stakeholders the mission, accomplishments and public benefit of individual agencies and how these correspond with the other A&M System agencies.”

Agency Director and CEO Gary Sera said the name change does not affect reporting relationships or lines of authority but will “realize and maximize the benefits of the tremendous shared equity in the Texas A&M name and the respective agency names.”

“Our main goal is to create stronger agency brands for the future,” Sera said. “New logos will be developed to represent the name change, but all changes will be implemented in the most efficient and effective manner possible to conserve agency resources.” Most of the changes to agency signage, marketing materials and letterhead/business cards will occur through obsolescence although electronic and digital items, including social media, will reflect the new name and logo starting on Sept. 1.
