COLLEGE STATION - The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) has purchased a building in the College Station Business Park, where the agency has been leasing space since 2004. The 60,000-square-foot Gateway building sits on 1.15 acres and has 200 parking spaces.

TEEX, Texas A&M Engineering Extension, Gateway“The purchase of the Gateway building ensures that we will have adequate facilities in the long term for one of the pre-eminent FEMA Task Force teams in the country,” said TEEX Director Gary Sera. "In addition, the location on Highway 6 is ideal for ease of access, and it is close to the TEEX headquarters building on Technology Way."

The purchase was approved by The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The $6.8 million price tag is much less than the cost of building a new facility, and based on rental fees, the cost will be recovered in just a few years, said Charley Todd, Associate Agency Director.

The agency will continue to utilize 43,000 square feet of office space and a large warehouse area of the building. The Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) plans to purchase Suite A, which includes an additional 17,000 square feet of offices, wet labs and cold storage units, Todd said.
