AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Robert Moore of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) to the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. The commission enforces statewide fire service standards and provides education and assistance to fire service personnel. Moore will serve a two-year term on the Commission.
Moore is director of the TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute, which operates the renowned Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station.
Moore joined TEEX in 1996 after serving as Fire Chief for Arco Chemical Co. and assistant fire chief and paramedic for the Channelview Volunteer Fire Department. He is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, National Fire Protection Association, Board of Certified Safety Professionals, State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals Association (SFFMA), and SFFMA Industrial Emergency Services Board. He has also published several articles in emergency response journals.
Moore received an associate’s degree from Blinn College, completed his Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic certification at Lee College, and is a graduate of the TEEX Leadership Development Program.
