COLLEGE STATION - The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) has entered into an agreement with Qatar Petroleum to provide for the development and operations of the
Ras Laffan Emergency & Safety College
(RLESC) in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar.
TEEX is providing the instructional staff as well as the curriculum and accreditation to support the training programs at RLESC, said Gordon Lohmeyer, Associate Director of TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute. Plans call for the facility to be fully staffed by Nov. 1, 2013.
“We are very excited to be part of this agreement with Qatar Petroleum,” Lohmeyer said. “We have hired some very qualified people who will facilitate training and represent TEEX in a positive manner.”
Jon Swain of TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute serves as the head of training at the RLESC. The 200-acre campus has 30 advanced training props, including a 119 burner system that can create a wide range of realistic fire scenarios.
