DALLAS - The Spring 2014 Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) attracted 56 participants from Texas and other states to the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Center in Dallas, TX, on March 4-7. They came to learn about fundamental economic development concepts, tools, and skills needed to be successful in today’s political, economic, and business environment.
Topics covered during the four-day course included community development, business attraction and marketing, entrepreneur and small business development, business retention and expansion, and many more.
“I have attended numerous trainings throughout my career and this course ranks up there with the best!” said Lisa Mutchler, TEEX Knowledge Engineering Program Manager.
The BEDC is conducted through a partnership between the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). The course provides the participant with a comprehensive understanding of the keys of successful economic development, and is the first step toward professional certification.
The next BEDC course is scheduled for Sept. 9-12, 2014 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Austin, TX.
