New Mexico Junior College joins with TEEX to offer specialized safety training

3/23/2015 12:00 AM

COLLEGE STATION - Oil & gas workers and other safety professionals in New Mexico will have easier access to safety and health training through a new agreement between New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).

TEEX is based in College Station, TX, however, TEEX’s Mesquite, TX, campus is home to a Region VI OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC) and provides OSHA-authorized safety and health training in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

New Mexico Junior College has been designated a TEEX Cooperative Learning Center (CLC), authorizing the college to teach TEEX safety and health classes within the college’s service area. The CLC agreement means NMJC has been approved as an OTIEC host site to teach TEEX courses using verified instructors and facilitators through the college’s Continuing Education and Workforce Training Office.

“This is an exciting time for us and partnering with NMJC provides TEEX with the opportunity to meet the demand and provide much needed safety and health training to the oil and gas industry workers and other safety professionals in the New Mexico area,” said Ron Peddy, Director of OTIEC.
