The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) is offering a new certification for sport security professionals. The Certified Sport Security Professional (CSSP) program requires three DHS/FEMA courses offered by TEEX and a CSSP Review Course offered by NCS4.
The courses place special emphasis on business and facility management, emergency planning, emergency management, crowd management, legal and regulatory and security principles and practice.
Those wishing to earn the CSSP have the opportunity to attend two upcoming training sessions at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington, TX. The first session, May 19-22, includes the Sport Event Risk Management course as well as the Sports and Special Events Evacuation Training and Exercise course. The second session, June 16-18, offers the Sports and Special Events Incident Management course in conjunction with the CSSP certification review course, to prepare participants for the CSSP examination.
The CSSP provides safety and security professionals involved in professional sports, intercollegiate, athletics, high school sports and marathon/endurance events with an accelerated pathway for professional and career development.
Others who could benefit from the program include operators of stadiums and arenas, security managers, law enforcement, private security and emergency managers and other emergency personnel, as well as local, state or federal agency representatives.
The training courses represent a cooperative effort between the University of Southern Mississippi’s National Center for Spectator Sport Safety and Security (USM/NCS4) and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service’s National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (TEEX/NERRTC), a member of the Texas A&M University System.
There are no tuition costs associated with the DHS/FEMA-approved training courses. The CSSP Review Course tuition is $349. Learn more at:
