COLLEGE STATION - The Texas Veterans Commission for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has approved four additional TEEX programs for GI Bill™ education benefits.
The programs approved for VA education benefits are:
TEEX also has several campuses approved by the Veterans Administration to offer training to veterans using their education benefits, said TEEX Veterans Program Coordinator Steven Robinson. In addition to locations in Bryan-College Station, VA education benefit programs can be offered at the Mesquite campus, and the San Antonio campus. TEEX is also approved to offer VA education benefit training at Nicholls State University in Houma, LA.
The number of veterans enrolling in TEEX programs has steadily increased since the Post 9/11 GI Bill went into effect, allowing veterans to use their education benefits at non college degree-granting schools, such as TEEX, Robinson said.
In FY15, 153 veterans used their education benefits to enroll in TEEX training programs. This number is up 30 percent from FY14, Robinson added.
Under the Post-9/11 benefit, the VA pays the tuition and fees directly to the school, based upon the approved benefit level of the veterans, who may also qualify for a monthly housing allowance and book and supplies stipend. TEEX also accepts the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) Chapter 30 education benefits.
