More than 25 emergency medical services personnel from throughout Texas will be ready to make the transition into EMS management roles on May 26 when they became the first graduating class of TEEX's EMS Leadership Academy at a ceremony in Humble.
The academy, which provides education from basic operations to the executive command levels, is setting a precedent for EMS management education in Texas by standardizing supervisory-level instruction and offering consistent management training. Students include personnel involved in various aspects of emergency response, including paramedics, dispatchers and emergency room technicians.
“This type of training has never been offered in Texas,” said Forrest Wood, EMS Leadership Academy Coordinator. “TEEX is remaining at the helm of emergency response training by providing courses such as the EMS Leadership Academy, which improves one of the state’s most important resources – emergency responders.”
