Texas Task Force 1 deploys additional teams

6/27/2007 12:00 AM

The two Texas Task Force 1 swiftwater rescue teams standing by in Cooke County were dispatched overnight to Lampasas due to continued heavy rainfall in Williamson, Burnet and Lampasas counties.

Meanwhile, five additional TX-TF1 swiftwater rescue teams and an air rescue team were activated overnight and are strategically located in or near flooded areas. Several nighttime rescues occurred in the cities of Marble Falls and Kingsland, and in Llano and Williamson counties.

The Marble Falls area alone has recorded over 12 inches of rainfall, according to the National Weather Service. Continued rainfall is expected across Central Texas causing concern for additional and significant flooding.

Included in the seven TX-TF1 swiftwater rescue squads is a combined team from Bryan and College Station Fire Departments.
