The Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) and the International School for Security and Explosive Education (ISSEE) have joined together to meet worldwide needs by providing certified counter-terrorism, security and unexploded ordnance disposal training.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed last week in College Station, Texas, between TEEX and ISSEE – two of the world’s most recognized private-sector training providers for unexploded ordnance disposal, counter-terrorism and security training. The MOU will allow the two training providers to share security and unexploded ordnance disposal curriculum.
Also under the agreement, graduates of the TEEX UXO Technician I program will be certified through ISSEE and the City & Guilds Institute of London (an international accreditation institute) to work for international companies on any UXO or humanitarian demining site in the world. Previously, TEEX graduates could only work for U.S. and Canadian companies.
TEEX operates the only commercially available UXO Technician course recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense. The first TEEX UXO Technician I course offered as part of the shared training venture will begin Oct. 19, and will include the optional, weeklong International Demining Certification program.
In addition to the International Demining Certification, TEEX is expected to offer additional ISSEE security and explosive courses in the near future.
TEEX, a member of The Texas A&M University System, offers hands-on, customized first responder training, homeland security exercises, technical assistance and technology transfer services impacting Texas and beyond. TEEX programs include fire and emergency services, homeland security, law enforcement, search and rescue, public works, safety and health, and economic development.
Located in the United Kingdom, ISSEE offers a wide range of search, security and counter terrorist training. ISSEE provides world-class explosives courses, including Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Improvised Explosives Device Disposal (IEDD) to international military, police, government and commercial organizations. Many international clients have enjoyed ISSEE's flexible approach in offering customized solutions and expertise for their explosives-related counter-terrorist initiatives.
