Three TEEX training divisions are located at Texas A&M-RELLIS, a 1,900-acre campus adjacent to State Highway 47 and Highway 21 west of Bryan. TEEX occupies about 100,000 square feet of offices, classrooms and laboratories. The agency also maintains outdoor training facilities at the RELLIS campus, including overhead and underground electric power training fields, a firing range for law enforcement officers, a heavy equipment training field, an emergency vehicle-driving track, unexploded ordnance ranges and search grids, and simulation prop houses for tactical training.

The overhead system maintenance yard features a variety of single- and three-phase configurations that supports training elements of all levels of apprentice training objectives. This training yard is large enough to allow for multiple crews the space the space to perform hands-on tasks without encroaching on each other or damaging equipment.

Overhead Distribution Training Field

This training field is dedicated to the installation of a complete single- and three-phase overhead distribution system. It provides the capabilities to practice the installation of transformers, breakers, regulators, and switches that meet the training objectives. This training area facilitates the storage of all materials and equipment recovered and warehoused between training events.

Underground Training Field

The underground training field allows the performance of installation and termination of underground system distribution cable, switching, and grounding operations of underground equipment. This field provides for the electrical testing and troubleshooting of both primary and secondary underground systems. Some of these elements may be installed permanently and some have the ability to be removed and reinstalled.

UXO Range and Search Grids

UXO Range and Search Grids

UXO Range and Search Grids

We offer the only commercially available Unexploded Ordnance Technician I (UXO) course originally recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense. Students utilize both the range and search grid to identify and locate surface and subsurface UXO using military and civilian detection devices, perform UXO excavation procedures, transport of UXO and demolition materials, preparation of firing systems for destruction operations, and more. ** [b]Demolition Range[~b] ** The TEEX demolition range includes a 24-pit training range with 15-pound net explosive weight (NEW) non-fragmentation capacity, four breaching door frames and a covered on-site classroom. This facility supports unexploded ordnance (UXO) technician training, explosives training for law enforcement, as well as research projects requiring testing and evaluation using explosives. • 12-acre site • 24 firing positions • 1,200 square foot classroom with storage • 4 station explosive breaching site • Explosives locker ** [b]Unexploded Ordnance Search Grids[~b] ** The UXO search grid consists of five distinct 100’ x 100’ grids laden with a variety of military ordnance and other “debris” capable of supporting realistic and challenging training scenarios for UXO Technician I trainees. The on-site classroom and UXO equipment storage facility is perfect for immediately transferring from the classroom environment to the field where participants can apply newly learned skills. • 10-acre site • 1,200 square foot classroom with storage • Heavy equipment search grid • 9 individual UXO practice grid ** [b]Humanitarian Deming Training Facility[~b] ** TEEX humanitarian demining training facility consists of a 200’ x 200’ “minefield” segregated into four sections designed for specific training scenarios: rigging drills, mine hunting exercises, vegetation and trip wire drill, and explosive remnants of war (ERW). This facility also offers a wooded booby-trap trail.
