  • E-Commerce: TEEX offers online registration and payment

If you are one of the millions of consumers who made purchases over the Internet in the last year, you know how convenient it is to shop where and when you want. TEEX customers now have the same convenience when they register and pay for training. The Online Payment and Registration System was implemented on March 19 to provide a means for TEEX students to search for a course, select a class and pay for that class using a credit card.

“This major effort gives our customers a new and exciting way to sign up and pay for TEEX courses, and at the same time, streamlines some of our most important agency operations,” said TEEX Director Dr. Kem Bennett. “I believe this system, along with the ongoing project to develop a new web site for TEEX, will put us well down the e-commerce path.”

One of the critical requirements of the system was to have live, real-time access to the student database. When the students enter their information over the web, the information is entered directly into the student database. After receiving confirmation of payment, the student can immediately print a confirmation and receipt.

The credit card payment processing will be handled through KPMG, the consulting firm that developed and hosts texasonline.com, the official web site for the State of Texas. Citizens browsing Texas Online will have a link to the TEEX Online Payment and Registration System.

Coinciding with the implementation of the Online Registration System is the rollout of the new look to the TEEX web site. To make it easier for TEEX customers to search and register for a class through the TEEX web site, a few changes were made. The “Training” button is now labeled “Registration,” taking customers directly to the Online Registration System, where they can either enter the specific class number (if they know it), or search for the class they wish to attend.

The “Course Catalog” search function of the web site has been made easier to find by having a button on the front page. From there, customers can find a class by searching the training categories. Once the desired class is located, they can click on “Register” and they will be taken to the Online Registration System where the class information will be automatically loaded.
