Jay G. Socol, Public Information Officer for the City of Bryan, will leave his post to become the Director of Communications and Marketing for the Texas Engineering Extension Service.
Socol has worked for the City of Bryan for the past seven years, coordinating media relations and crisis communications as well as web content and programming for the government cable channel. He led a re-branding campaign for the city in 2004 and regularly makes appearances on local radio stations. Prior to joining the Bryan city staff, Socol worked as a news director for several local radio stations.
“I look at this as a tremendous opportunity to work with an agency that literally touches lives across the country and around the world,” Socol said. “I’m eager to be part of the team that finds even more ways to tell the TEEX story.”
Socol is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has won numerous awards for broadcasting, news reporting, publications and cable programming. He will begin his new job on May 21.

Agency programs include fire services, homeland security, public safety and security, public works, safety and health, search and rescue and economic development.
