  • County’s Firefighter Field Day held at TEEX’s Brayton facility

The second annual Washington County Firefighter Field Day was held Oct. 13 at the Texas Engineering Extension’s Emergency Services Training Institute Brayton Field in College Station. Fire fighters from Washington County fire departments — including Brenham, Burton, Salem, Meyersville, Rocky Creek, Gay Hill, Prairie Hill and Latium — attended the school. Students receive hands on training in structure firefighting in the multi story complex at Brayton Field. TEEX’s Brayton Field is considered the world’s best training facility. A grant from the Texas Forest Service was used to help fund the tuition for the students.

This is definitely the best class I’ve ever taken through TEEX. I was told before I came that I would need to study beforehand, but after being in the class, I disagree. They covered everything and kept it at a level that everyone could understand. I definitely recommend this to others.
