  • Texas Task Force 1 Continues East Texas Operations

Texas Task Force 1’s water strike squads remained in East Texas Monday to assist local officials with damage assessments from the recent heavy rainfall that resulted in localized flooding along the Neches River.

Texas Task Force 1 members rescued 12 people from the rising floodwaters in Orange County over the weekend and conducted more than 200 damage assessments and wellness checks of East Texas residents through Monday. The water strike squads are also providing documentation and digital photos of the flood-affected homes to local officials.

The 16-member team was deployed late Friday evening at the request of the Governor’s Division of Emergency Management. Texas Task Force 1, which is sponsored by the Texas Engineering Extension Service, coordinates the state’s water rescue program and also serves as Texas’ only statewide urban search and rescue team.

…the BEDC was great, thanks for all of the work that you, Bill, and all of the presenters put into development a top notch curriculum. It was a lot of material, but I really enjoyed it.
