Course Description

Preparation for certification as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).

Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. Emergency Medical Responders have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. Emergency Medical Responders also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response. Under medical oversight, Emergency Medical Responders perform basic interventions with minimal equipment.

End-of-Course Outcomes: Demonstrate proficiency in cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains for the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) in accordance with the current guidelines of the licensing/certification agency.

Licensing/Certification Agency National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Texas Department of State Health and Human Services – Emergency Medical Services

Annual School Attendees:

This blended learning program can be customized for your agency. If you are interested, please contact the TEEX EMS Program for more information.
