Course Description
The Electric Power Overhead and Underground System Maintenance course trains participants in safe work practices related to distribution system maintenance. The course allows participants to work with a variety of structures as well as underground systems specific to repair work done on typical system hardware. During training students will become familiar with personal protective grounding practices on both overhead and underground electrical systems and perform switching and isolating procedures on an underground residential distribution system. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to work as a member of a crew when replacing typical pole line hardware and apparatus.
Prerequisites
TEEX Certification/Licensing Requirement
Participants must provide evidence of completion of the TEEX Wood Pole Climbing (EPP001) course or equivalent training verified by their current employer through a completed Student Qualification Form. This prerequisite may be accomplished by uploading a copy of the documents during registration using the TEEX Student Portal. Once received and approved, the participant will be notified by email they have met all prerequisites and have been added to the class roster. All documentation is due at least 14 business days prior to the start of class.

Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed

Prior Training Courses or Knowledge
It recommended, but not required, participants complete the TEEX Electric Utilities Personal Protective Grounding Practices (EPP011) and Electric Power Overhead Line Construction (EPP031) courses.
