This course, Firefighter Training, S-130 and Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior, S-190, are required training for all personnel prior to certification as a Firefighter (FFT2) under the Wildland and Prescribed Fire Qualification System Guide, PMS 310-1. An adapted version of L-180, Human Factors on the Fireline, has been included as part of this course.
This entry-level course for all new firefighters can also be used as a refresher course for returning firefighters. The purpose of this course is to train new firefighters in basic firefighting skills. Firefighters who successfully complete this course and the Work Capacity Test will be qualified to suppress wildland fires while under close supervision. Students that successfully complete S-130 are also eligible to receive credit and a certificate for completing L-180 Human Factors on the Fireline.
There are no prerequisites for this course.
This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements.
