The eight-hour field delivered course provides emergency responders and their supervisors with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) – specific response skills, enabling them to safely respond to a suspected CBRNE incident at a performance defensive level. This hands-on training supports implementation of training within jurisdictions to supervisors and/or trainers that have previously been trained through the TERT (Weapons of Mass Destruction [WMD] Technical Emergency Response) and/or HOT (WMD Hands-On Training) programs.
The Responder-8 curriculum, delivered at local sites, allows jurisdictions to rapidly achieve responder readiness at the performance-defensive level through the use of Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) instructional staff in cooperation with local trainers. The Responder-8 training is routinely offered in multiple iterations during a site visit, with the intent that the local jurisdiction implements and sustains training at the performance-defensive level.
