TEEX Virtual Career Day highlights vocational career options for students who are looking for career opportunities straight after High School. TEEX Career Day will feature training demonstrations in Cybersecurity, Fire and Emergency, Law Enforcement, and Utilities. Each session will include a presentation of the hands-on portion of the job, followed by a discussion with TEEX instructors. These Instructors will present real-world knowledge, stories from their personal career path, why they chose their respective careers, and the opportunities for advancement within their vocation. Students will be able to ask questions and speak directly with the instructors after the presentation.
This year’s event will be hosted virtually on February 23 -24 from 9AM – 3PM. Students will be able to attend virtually, either from their home or school.
Last year this event was held on location with over 450 students and teachers attending from various schools in Brazos County. On our survey, teachers from last year’s event responded that they liked the event because it showcased variety and activities that were not just college-related. One teacher stated, “There were many opportunities for our students to explore careers and see ideas outside their norms.” Forty-eight percent of students last year commented on the feedback forms how much they learned from the session they attended. One student said, “It gave me a change of mind for a job.” 95 percent of the students responded on last year’s feedback form that they would recommend this event to another student.
