  • TEEX offers heavy equipment operator training for John Deere

TEEX has been selected as a satellite training site for John Deere. The heavy equipment operator training program in the Engineering, Utilities and Public Works Training Institute is offering a 32-hour equipment operator training program for John Deere clients.

Jack Pettyjohn said the class offers hands-on training using John Deere equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, motor graders and backhoes. Training focuses on advanced machine features and operating techniques as well as safety.

“The joint program is basically entry-level equipment operator training, and that’s what we specialize in,” said Pettyjohn, business development manager. “The curriculum was developed jointly by John Deere and TEEX, and John Deere is providing the equipment.”

The first class will be held in December at the TEEX Eagle Mountain Lake training site near Fort Worth, Pettyjohn said. The class will initially be offered once a month, but additional classes will be added as needed.

Minneapolis, MN area responders that were dispatched to the bridge collapse on I-35 had been training and exercising in preparation for a large scale response for years. So when the I-35 bridge collapsed without warning with 160 people on the bridge killing 13 and injuring 121 others, they were ready.

I took many courses from TEEX-NERRTC over the years that helped me in the response.
