COLLEGE STATION — Nearly 700 firefighters from nineteen countries called College Station home this week.
Firefighters were in town taking part in the TEEX Spanish Firefighter School at the Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station. Firefighters are put through drills and also take part in classroom instruction.
For many of the firefighters, the school is a unique training opportunity.
“First of all, it’s the installations. The facilities that you have here are far above what we have back home. Here we can re-create any scenario where we can have hands-on training exercises. Back home we have relatively limited resources,” said fire student Lino Casprowitz.
Beginning next week, the Industrial Firefighters School will start. Then on July 22, TEEX will host their Municipal Firefighters School.
