Six hundred Spanish-speaking firefighters from around the world spent July 6 - 11 in College Station for the Texas Fire Training School's 37th Annual Spanish School. The school is conducted by the Emergency Services Training Institute of the Texas Engineering Extension Service, a member of The Texas A&M University System.

The firefighters were from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador,Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain and the United States, and received a wide array of fire fighting and emergency response training from a dedicated group of 140 volunteer guest instructors.

While some of the students have been sent to the school by large companies, corporations or municipalities, others personally saved money for travel and tuition to attend this prestigious school. The second of three weeklong sessions began July 13.
