Jim Thyne has been named director of the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (NERRTC). Thyne joined TEEX in 1999 and has served as director of operations and training for NERRTC since March 2002.
Congress designated TEEX as the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center in 1998, under the U.S. Department of Justice. It has since moved under the Department of Homeland Security. The center focuses on preparing emergency responders to combat terrorism in the United States.
A graduate of the University of Georgia System with a degree in public administration, Thyne has more than 30 years of management experience in various private and governmental organizations. He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
“Jim has a thorough knowledge and understanding of NERRTC and will represent the agency well,” said TEEX Director Lanny Smith.
