COLLEGE STATION –The Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) presented Distinguished Service Awards to seven area employees on Thursday during the agency’s annual “State of TEEX” address in College Station.

TEEX Distinguished Service Award recipients for 2003 include: John Rinard for program and project management, Jeff Jackson for skilled craft and service support, Debbie Schulz for clerical service, Cecil Ware and Harvey Stewart for instructional service, and Quenya Evans and Janet Frye for professional service.

“The Distinguished Service Awards embody the true essence of being a ‘TEEXan’ by recognizing attributes such as integrity, dedication and selfless service,” said Robert L. Smith, director of TEEX. “What makes these awards even more special is that the recipients are nominated by their co-workers, who they work with and interact with on a daily basis and in a variety of circumstances.”

TEEX has been presenting Distinguished Service Awards to the agency’s top employees for more than 20 years. Each recipient received a framed certificate and a monetary award.

TEEX is a member of The Texas A&M University System, and continues its mission of developing highly skilled and educated workers and successful organizations, and enhancing public safety, health and the economic growth of the state through training, continuing education and technology transfer. TEEX training and technical assistance programs include fire protection, emergency response and rescue, law enforcement, water and wastewater, transportation, career technology, marine, environmental safety, electric power, economic development, manufacturing technology, and telecommunications.

Last year TEEX trained more than 130,000 students through more than 6,000 classes in all 50 states, U.S. territories and 40 countries, while serving 3,200 companies and 3,800 municipalities.
