Abilene Area Fire Control Conference celebrates 50th year

ABILENE – The Abilene Area Fire Control Conference will celebrate its 50th year Aug. 23-24, providing the latest fire control and protection methods available to both volunteer and municipal firefighters in Abilene and the surrounding areas.

Conducted by the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), the conference features classes such as emergency vehicle law, thermal imaging interpretation, bomb threat/explosives prevention and advanced wildland firefighting.

All training facilities are furnished by the Abilene Fire Department. The conference is sponsored by the Mid-West Texas Firemen’s Association and the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas.

The conference will be held at the Abilene Civic Center, located at 1100 North 6th Street. Registration is from 6-7 p.m., and classes will be held each evening from 7-10 p.m. The cost is $10 per person per night.
