The annual Texas Fire Schools, held every July, bring thousands of firefighters to the Bryan-College Station community and have $1.4 million in economic impact on the area.
The Economic Development Administration and TEEX will provide training to communities struck by disasters like Hurricane Harvey.
Forty-eight new firefighters graduated from the 159th Firefighter Recruit Academy after completing 12 weeks of classroom and hands-on training at the Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station.
