Texas A&M University RELLIS Campus

Three TEEX training divisions are located at the Texas A&M RELLIS Campus, a 1,900-acre campus adjacent to State Highway 47 and Highway 21 west of Bryan. TEEX occupies about 100,000 square feet of offices, classrooms and laboratories. The agency also maintains outdoor training facilities at RELLIS, including overhead and underground electric power training fields, a firing range for law enforcement officers, a heavy equipment training field, an emergency vehicle-driving track, unexploded ordnance ranges and search grids, and simulation prop houses for tactical training.

Training Facilities Include:

Overhead System Maintenance Yard

The overhead system maintenance yard features a variety of single- and three-phase configurations that supports training elements of all levels of apprentice training objectives. This training yard is large enough to allow for multiple crews the space the space to perform hands-on tasks without encroaching on each other or damaging equipment. 

Overhead Distribution Training Field

This training field is dedicated to the installation of a complete single- and three-phase overhead distribution system. It provides the capabilities to practice the installation of transformers, breakers, regulators, and switches that meet the training objectives. This training area facilitates the storage of all materials and equipment recovered and warehoused between training events. 

Underground Training Field

The underground training field allows the performance of installation and termination of underground system distribution cable, switching, and grounding operations of underground equipment. This field provides for the electrical testing and troubleshooting of both primary and secondary underground systems. Some of these elements may be installed permanently and some have the ability to be removed and reinstalled.
