The Temporary Traffic Control Worker course covers safety awareness, personal and co-worker safety, to include the OSHA focus four hazards, excavation safety, night-time operation, basic traffic control, traffic control devices, channelizing devices, traffic queuing, and signage. Training received during this course is required by TxDOT every 3 years and is in compliance with the Special Specification to Item 7 of the TxDOT Standard Specifications for Construction and Maintenance of Highways, Streets, and Bridges (2015), all workers engaged in a construction work zone must complete Work Zone Traffic Control Awareness Training.
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.
