OSHA Outreach Trainer Renewal Information

OSHA Outreach Trainers are required to attend an Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers (OSH502) course at least once every four years to maintain their trainer status.

Should your card expire prior to attending this course, a 90-day grace period is designed to allow only for unexpected circumstances like course cancellations, illness, and other unavoidable obligations such as jury duty. After the grace period, a trainer’s authorization is considered to be expired and they will no longer be able to conduct outreach training and receive student course completion cards. Trainer’s authorization status may only be reinstated by retaking the trainer course.

Military service members returning from overseas have 90 days from their return date to renew their trainer authorization. Proof of military status must be shown. This includes a copy of the military orders for returning to the U.S. Reservists who serve more than 30 days and leave active duty must furnish a copy of their DD214.

If you have special renewal considerations, please contact TEEX/ITSI Customer Care for assistance at (800) 723-3811.

Attendance Policy

TEEX and the OSHA Training Institute (OTI) have an attendance policy that requires all students to fully attend enrolled classes. In order for the student to receive a certificate of completion, they must attend the entire class. We realize that extenuating circumstances may arise that would take a student out of class and have implemented the following policy to handle those situations. Below are the responsibilities and expectations of students in a TEEX course.

  1. Students are expected to attend 100% of the course in which they are enrolled before a certificate of completion can be issued.
  2. If an extenuating circumstance arises in which a student is unable to attend 100% of class, the student must complete the Student Absentee Request form prior to leaving the classroom and submit it to the instructor for approval. If the extenuating circumstance arises during non-class hours, the student must complete the Student Absentee Request form immediately upon return to the classroom and submit it to the instructor for approval.
  3. With an approved absence for extenuating circumstances, if the absence is short enough, the instructor has discretion to provide options for make-up work if the classroom hours are equivalent.
  4. For all other absences, students must re-enroll through TEEX Registration to retake the course within six months.
