Coming off its busiest year ever, Texas A&M Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) will hold a full-scale Operational Readiness Exercise (ORE) on Feb. 23-24 at Disaster City® in College Station to prepare and train for what could be another active response season.
More than 1,200 emergency responders and officials in the Atlanta metropolitan area are better prepared to keep people safe during the upcoming Super Bowl LIII thanks, in part, to training they received from the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).
Thirty-six canine teams tackled the challenges at Disaster City® during the 15th annual FEMA Canine Search Specialist Training Weekend. Eleven US&R task forces were represented at the training event, which was sponsored by Texas A&M Task Force 1.
The National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, or NDPC, recently celebrated its 20th year of making a substantial impact on the nationÂ’s preparedness. Since 1998, NDPC training has benefited more than 2.9 million participants in all 50 states and each U.S. territory. A new report details how NDPC training was used during an unprecedented number of natural disasters during FY2018.
Rebecca Tate received the prestigious Regents Fellow Service Award from The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. She was recognized for her efforts to enhance the nationÂ’s safety and security by ensuring first responders receive high-quality emergency preparedness training.
The 11th annual TEEX Leadership Development Symposium in Frisco, TX, broke previous attendance records with 1,043 attendees from across Texas, as well as 18 other states and Canada.
TX-TF1 experienced its busiest year ever in 2018, and it is gearing up for what could potentially be another year of significant weather events. The team deployed 18 times last year, including 12 deployments in September and October. The team went on both state and federal deployments in response to severe weather, flash flooding, wild fires, and Hurricanes to include Michael, Florence and Olivia.
Seven employees were recognized at an annual awards ceremony held by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service.
The winning technologies in TEEX’s Defense to Response (D2R) Technology Showcase were Sonar EMILY by Hydronalix, Project Diligence by PhaseSpace and No-contact shield by Protect the Force. They will be transitioning from Defense to Response over the next nine months.
Forty-eight new firefighters graduated from the 20th Online Firefighter Recruit Academy after 335 hours of online training and a 21-day firefighting boot camp at Brayton Fire Training Field.
