Annual Industrial School | EMS101 | Emergency Medical Responder (blended format) | Preparation for certification as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).
Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. Emergency Medical Responders have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. Emergency Medical Responders also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response. Under medical oversight, Emergency Medical Responders perform basic interventions with minimal equipment.
End-of-Course Outcomes: Demonstrate proficiency in cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains for the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) in accordance with the current guidelines of the licensing/certification agency.
Licensing/Certification Agency National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Texas Department of State Health and Human Services – Emergency Medical Services

Please note: For the Spring School Emergency Medical Responders and the Municipal Annual School Emergency Medical Responders: This class is for Texas residents that are members of a municipal or volunteer first responder organization ONLY. This course is partially funded through a Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) Rural / Frontier EMS Education Grant. Any other students should attend the Industrial Annual School EMR class.
The Emergency Medical Responder course is an 80-hour blended course, with 44 hours of self-paced online didactic instruction that follows a lesson plan with weekly lecture and activity assignments the student completes using a home computer, textbook, and online supplemental material. The face-to-face portion is 36 hours of hands on psychomotor skills instruction and written testing. The face-to-face portion is completed at the Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station, Texas and runs for one week during the Texas Annual Fire Training School classes conducted in March and July.
Individuals successfully completing the EMR course are eligible for National Registry Cognitive Exam testing and certification through the Texas Department of State Health and Human Services (TDSHS) as an Emergency Medical Responder.

Annual Municipal School | EMS101 | Emergency Medical Responder (blended format) | Preparation for certification as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).
Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. Emergency Medical Responders have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. Emergency Medical Responders also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response. Under medical oversight, Emergency Medical Responders perform basic interventions with minimal equipment.
End-of-Course Outcomes: Demonstrate proficiency in cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains for the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) in accordance with the current guidelines of the licensing/certification agency.

Please note: For the Spring School Emergency Medical Responders and the Municipal Annual School Emergency Medical Responders: This class is for Texas residents that are members of a municipal or volunteer first responder organization ONLY. This course is partially funded through a Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) Rural / Frontier EMS Education Grant. Any other students should attend the Industrial Annual School EMR class.
The Emergency Medical Responder course is an 80-hour blended course, with 44 hours of self-paced online didactic instruction that follows a lesson plan with weekly lecture and activity assignments the student completes using a home computer, textbook, and online supplemental material. The face-to-face portion is 36 hours of hands on psychomotor skills instruction and written testing. The face-to-face portion is completed at the Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station, Texas and runs for one week during the Texas Annual Fire Training School classes conducted in March and July.
Individuals successfully completing the EMR course are eligible for National Registry Cognitive Exam testing and certification through the Texas Department of State Health and Human Services (TDSHS) as an Emergency Medical Responder.

Annual Spring School | EMS101 | Emergency Medical Responder (blended format) | Preparation for certification as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).
Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. Emergency Medical Responders have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. Emergency Medical Responders also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response. Under medical oversight, Emergency Medical Responders perform basic interventions with minimal equipment.
End-of-Course Outcomes: Demonstrate proficiency in cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains for the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) in accordance with the current guidelines of the licensing/certification agency.

Please note: For the Spring School Emergency Medical Responders and the Municipal Annual School Emergency Medical Responders: This class is for Texas residents that are members of a municipal or volunteer first responder organization ONLY. This course is partially funded through a Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) Rural / Frontier EMS Education Grant. Any other students should attend the Industrial Annual School EMR class.
The Emergency Medical Responder course is an 80-hour blended course, with 44 hours of self-paced online didactic instruction that follows a lesson plan with weekly lecture and activity assignments the student completes using a home computer, textbook, and online supplemental material. The face-to-face portion is 36 hours of hands on psychomotor skills instruction and written testing. The face-to-face portion is completed at the Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station, Texas and runs for one week during the Texas Annual Fire Training School classes conducted in March and July.
Individuals successfully completing the EMR course are eligible for National Registry Cognitive Exam testing and certification through the Texas Department of State Health and Human Services (TDSHS) as an Emergency Medical Responder.
