Course Description
Effective scenario training enables participants to gain valuable hands-on experience and improve their skills for public safety and security. Safety and realism are the two most important elements in reality-based training. This course is designed to teach participants how to safely design and implement scenario based training within their agency. Participants will learn how to effectively develop and evaluate a scenario training plan that is safe and effective. Upon completing this course, participants obtain several training scenarios that they will be able to take back to their agencies to immediately utilize.
This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements LET705 TEEX RBTI Course #78032.
Prerequisites
Participants enrolling in this course must complete the following course prior to attendance:
- Basic Instructor Development (TCOLE #1014) or a course equivalent
If you are claiming a course equivalent, you must upload the document to your TEEX student portal within 48 hours of registration. If you completed the course requirement with TEEX, a TEEX employee will verify that you completed the course and received a passing grade.
Enrollment Requirements
Participants enrolling in this course must meet one of the following employment statuses. Please ensure the affiliation on your student account reflects one of the following:
- Licensed or certified peace officer with a current commission employed by or attached to a law enforcement/investigative agency
- Licensed security officer or public safety trainer
Please upload a copy of your prerequisite and enrollment requirements within 48 hours of registration to your MyTEEX Student Portal. If you are unable to upload the documents you can email them to [email protected]. The preferred document naming convention is “Last Name, First Name – Document.”
Participants will be contacted via email to confirm approval and admittance into the course.
Course Completion Requirements
Participant Must Provide
- A photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
Equipment
- Laptop for the job-related training scenarios participants will be building
- Duty belt
- Coveralls or long-sleeve shirt
- Groin protection
- Protective gear for use with projectile based training
- Training batons
- Writing instruments and a straight edge ruler
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process, and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. The course requires participants to attend a minimum of 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirement, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.
In some cases, make-up work will not be available (due to equipment/facility needs and/or safety/teamwork components or activity setup/facilitation/requirements).
Participants in a TCOLE credit eligible course must complete the class in its entirety to receive a TEEX Certificate of Completion and be reported for TCOLE credit.
