Course Description

This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to perform basic rope rescue operations utilizing appropriate equipment, methodologies, protocols, and patient and resource management techniques.  This is NOT a ProBoard eligible course. 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

Participant Must Provide: 

A photo identification on the first day of class.  See the Participant Handbook opens in a
new tab
 for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.  

PPE must be NFPA-approved.  See the
Student Safety Manual
 for review PPE requirements for level.

PPE Level 2 includes: 

  • Rescue helmet with a chin strap with a 3-point attachment
  • Rope rescue gloves, all-leather work gloves 
  • Eye protection
  • Approved safety toe boots 

Laptop or tablet to view student manual and exercises.  

Attendance Requirements

This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion.  The participants must complete each training module and successfully complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and/or pass the end of course exam to receive course completion.  During the course, your instructor will review any additional requirements. 

Due to the strenuous nature of search and rescue activities, you should secure a professional evalulation of your physical condition prio9r to enrolling in this course.
