Course Description

The science of fire behavior has revolutionized strategies and tactics across the globe.  

This course offers 4 CE hours in fire science, energy, fuel, fire development, and fire behavior.  This course offers an interactive practice session and a quiz based off IFSTA Essentials of Firefighting 7th, Edition Manual.  This course satisfies: NFPA 1001 4.3.10, 4.3.11, 4.3.12

To meet attendance requirements, participants must review each training module and complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and/or end of course exam.

  • 5. Explain the self-sustained chemical reaction involved in flaming combustion.
  • 6. Differentiate among the stages of fire development.
  • 7. Explain how firefighting operations can influence fire behavior in a structure.
  • 8. Describe how building construction and layout affects fire development.
