Course Description
Whether through a window, door or wall; using a cutting, prying, or striking tool; forcible entry is more than just kicking in a door. Sometimes we conduct forcible while inflicting the least amount of damage possible, other times forcible entry involves creating large openings in the entire structure. To achieve the best outcome based on the situation the firefighter must have a working knowledge of tool selection, forcible entry techniques, and an understanding of property features. Failure to understand the principles of forcible entry can cause unnecessary damage to facilities resulting in loss of public trust all the way to firefighters being injured by inappropriate techniques. Forcible entry is accomplished to not only gain access to a property, but also ensures firefighters can egress a property if conditions or tactics change. This course offers an interactive practice session and a module quiz based off IFSTA Essentials of Firefighting 7th edition. This course satisfies: NFPA 1001 4.3.4, 4.3.9, 4.3.11, 4.5.1
